Our mission at openClassical is to map out the history of western classical music. It's a big ambition - 1,000 years of music, across all genres and styles; from Bach, to Beethoven, to Rachmaninoff (and everyone else in between).

In times past, classical music had a fairly high cost of entry, measured in both time and money. With the modern web, which includes an amazing amount of free streaming media, these costs of entry are all but gone. While an embedded player does not quite replace the concert hall, it can get surprisingly close.
