Prof. Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva is one of the most prominent personalities of Bulgarian music life. Her brilliant performances as an opera and a chamber singer,as well as as an outstanding vocal pedagogue-at home and abroad-are all marked with enviable professionalism. She has graduated at State Music Academy in Sofia in the class of Prof. Ilia Yossifov and specialized in Milano ,under the world-famous opera singer and vocal pedagogue -- Mercedes Liopart. For a short period only, Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva has won recognition as a superb interpreter of lyric soprano-parts and joined the first ranks of the Sofia Opera soloists. Each of her roles is a confirmation of her natural endowment, artistry and musicalness, love for the chosen profession,diligence and the invaluable sense of proportion, indispensable to a singer born and bred.The repertoire of Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva enlists over thirty leading opera-parts and her career counts in more then four hundred performances. Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva is remarkable for her concentrated interpretation of vocal compositions too. Songs by Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Dargomizshky, Rachmaninov and many others, find an inspired interpreter in this singer. She is the one to acquaint Bulgarian audience with the songs of Bizet, Saint-Saens, Dounaudi, Menotti, Schutz, Respighi. In support of that are the three hundred concerts which she has given in Bulgaria and abroad. Guest-performances take Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva to scores of countries all over the four continents.Her art has been admired by audience, and connoisseurs from Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Czechia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, India, Cuba, Peru, Korea, China, Malta, Algeria, Denmark, Switzerland, Greece, Turkey, etc. She has sung in a team with world-famous opera-stars, as Placido Domingo, Nikolai Ghiaourov, Jean Rhodes, Zinaida Palli and many others- under the baton of Kromholtz, Antonio Guadagno, Boris Heikin, Roberto Benzi,etc. Along with her active artistic career, for two decades now, Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva has been working hard and purposefully as a vocal pedagogue. Dozens of her students, who sing in Bulgaria and beyond its limits, are the prize-winners from Bulgarian and international competitions. At the invitation of the German Ministry if Culture, Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva has worked as an opera-seminar professor for eight years. Her contribution to the culture of the country has been appreciated by the German people, nominating her as an international authority of the Italian " belcanto". She has been awarded the order "Kurt Barthel". Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva has also joined some other international vocal seminars- in Malta, Korea, China, etc. For eight years she has been the Dean of the Vocal Faculty at State Music Academy in Sofia. She is the first Bulgarian singer and pedagogue, singled out into membership of the adjudicators in the International Competition for Young Opera-Singers held in Bulgaria (a laurate of which she has formerly been- the winner of the Second prize and a Silver medal). Many times she has been a member of the audjudicators in "Tchaikovsky" International Competition (Moscow) and in the competitions: "Robert Schumann"(Zwickau) and "Maria Callas" (Athens). The singer and the pedagogue Blagovesta Karnobatlova-Dobreva is an outstanding personality in Bulgarian music art of performance. That point is proved by thirty five years of full value. The years ahead will continue proving it convincingly. It will also be proved by the numerous recordings of the singer which are a valuable contribution to Bulgarian music art.
